VPASS is a decontamination system that vaporizes peracetic acid-based disinfectants and disperses them to every corner of a sealed space, leveraging the powerful sterilizing action of peracetic acid to decontaminate the interiors of laboratory equipment.
Because vaporized peracetic acid (VPA) can pass through HEPA filters, it can decontaminate the entire apparatus, including the HEPA filters themselves.
The system can be used for decontamination prior to the maintenance of biosafety cabinets (BSCs) or CO2 incubators, as well as for decontamination before removing BSCs from a facility.

Features
  • Ensures safety using a low-concentration vaporized peracetic acid (approx. 30 ppm)
  • Capable of achieving a 6-log or greater reduction of biological indicators
  • Fully automated decontamination and chemical recovery processes minimize operational variance caused by operator experience
  • The recirculation system design allows other tasks to be performed simultaneously in the same room during decontamination
  • Eliminates the need for post-decontamination neutralization or prolonged aeration, thanks to chemical recovery via the filter unit
  • Supports validation processes (CSV, IQ/OQ)
Overview of decontamination workflow
Task detailsTime taken
Step1System delivery to the facilityVaries by facility
Step2System assembly15 minutes
Step3Attaching the exhaust adapter and masking glass surfaces30 minutes
Step4Bio-decontamination process2-3 hours
Achieves a 6-log or greater reduction of biological indicators
Step5Bio-decontamination gas recovery30 minutes
Step6Removal of masking and exhaust adapter15 minutes
Step7System removal from the facilityVaries by facility
Total required working time3.5 - 4.5 hours

Peracetic acid vaporized inside the tank unit circulates throughout the target apparatus, decontaminating the entire interior, including the HEPA filter.
In the final process, the built-in filter unit removes the vaporized peracetic acid and reduces the acetic acid odor.
